2026 Winter Friday Indoor League
Description
Indoor Winter League is back!
Player Expectations and Updated Rules Explantions for 2026!
This league will be 7 weeks long from 8-10pm on Friday nights, January 16 - February 27, playing at Rivers Edge on two walled indoor soccer fields, sized at 180x80 feet. With smaller fields, this league will be 5v5 and play a ratio of 3:2, men-matching to women-matching players.
This league is meant for experienced players only and is a draft-style league. Not every player (particularly for men-matching) will be drafted (see more details in Registration notes below).
The cost is $110 for 7 weeks.
The rental cost at the fields has gone up a bit, so unfortunately must this fee. While we normally offer multiple price points for a "pay what you can model," the field rental for indoor leagues is expensive, and we're unable to offer that to everyone. That being said, if the price is a prohibitive barrier for anyone, please reach out to Liz Anderson at landerson@cincinnatiultimate.org for financial assistance!
League Rules 2026
- 4 teams & two rounds each night
- First game: 8-8:55 pm
- Second game: 9:00-9:55 pm
- 5v5 with the ratio of 3:2, men-matching to women-matching.
- Stall to 7 (starting at 1, stall would then be the "S" in seven)
- No halftime.
- Each team is allowed one 60-second timeout per game. Timeouts cannot be called with 5:00 or less on the clock.
- All indoor structures (nets, walls, poles, etc) are considered out of bounds. If a disc hits any of these structures, it is “out” and results in a turnover. The disc is put into play at the location on the playing field closest to where the contact occurred.
- If a player makes contact with any of these indoor structures to catch the disc, that is considered a turnover. Gently tapping the wall when coming to a stop after catching the disc is fine. Hitting or slamming into the wall is NOT fine.
- If a situation is ambiguous enough that we require a decision, we will treat this much like a “best perspective” call that will be decided by the captains.
- No pulls - when a point is scored, the formerly defending team will start the next point on the endzone line nearest to where the disc was scored.
- No pull to start the game. Offense will put the disc into play on their defending endzone line.
- When the time expires, finish the point. See below:
- Universe Point rules: If the point that is played out after time expires results in a tied game, play one more point (Double Game Point). If the point does not conclude before the start of the next game or the end of the rented time slot, the league director reserves the right to call a tie.
- Hockey-style subbing: Players can substitute themselves anytime during the point, but not during calls that stop play. Subs are allowed during timeouts, but not the player who called the timeout.
- There will be a maximum of 10 seconds allowed between a point scored and the next point starting, which is signaled by tapping the disc in. The defensive team can pre-stall or not.
- The Inside two doors are the doors to be used for going ON TO the field when subbing.
- The Outside two doors are the doors to be used for going OFF the field when subbing. (see image, linked in document at the top)
- A player entering the field/game cannot go until the player coming off the field crosses the threshold of the wall/door.
- All doors should remain closed and latched except when subbing, as this is a safety issue for on-field players.
Registration notes:
- We will plan to allow more men-matching players to register than there are roster spots for MMPs, and not everyone may be drafted. League captains and the League Director will moderate the draft process, and we will communicate this as soon as the draft is completed.
- As this is an experienced league, Captains will be looking to craft teams of both skilled and fun players. Captains will draft players who are spirited, respectful of ALL players on the team, and play well in mixed ultimate settings.
- Please note that registering for this league (particularly as a man-matching player) does not guarantee that you have a spot in this league. If players are not drafted, they will be notified immediately after the draft is completed, and a refund will be issued.
- Captains will draft players into 4 teams, aiming for 8 men-matching players and 5-6 women-matching players per team.
- Players need to be at least 18 by January 1, 2026
Sub Policy:
- Subs are allowed to participate if a team has fewer than 4 women-matching players or 6 men-matching players that night.
- All subs must be vetted through Liz Anderson, the league director, to verify the appropriate skill level.
- Subs will be asked to pay $10 per night they sub.
